About JM

Born in Gdańsk, Joan has been living and creating in Bergen for several years, now in her own studio. A member of the Polish Watercolor Society. She is interested in watercolor and acrylic painting, as well as mokuhanga and ceramics.
She began learning drawing and painting in high school, and during her studies, she taught future students at the Gdańsk University of Technology and the Academy of Fine Arts.
She focuses on textures, gradients, contrasts, and the search for color correspondence. Her watercolors are full of details and ornaments. She strives to create a realistic yet beautified image of reality.

“Watercolors are textures, singing in the shower and scent of citrus.”

Watercolors are nostalgia, discovering oneself, and seeking harmony. They are singing in the shower, good food, sunrises, the touch and scent of citrus. They are textures, the play of light, smiles, memories, and colors. They are the unveiling of the soul. They are opening up to the viewer. They are trust.

Watercolors are endless journeys and the discovery of new places. They are looking at the world through the lens of a sheet of paper. Stopping, contemplation, recording a place and situation.

Experiencing the world and finding one’s place in it.
